Self storage
RV and Boat Storage Calls: What Owners Ask
Vehicle storage callers know exactly what they need, and they ask precise questions. Will a 34-foot motorhome fit? Is there power? Can I get in at 6 a.m. on a Saturday? Good answers come from good facility details, written down before the season starts.

Get the measurements right
Length is the first question and the most common mistake. Ask for the full length including the hitch, ladders, bike racks and the boat trailer's tongue, not just the length on the title. For covered and enclosed spaces, ask for the height including air conditioners and antennas.
Describe each space type clearly
Write approved descriptions for every space type you offer, so callers can choose without a site visit.
- Open parking: surface, lighting and security.
- Covered: roof height and whether sides are open.
- Enclosed: door width and height, and whether power is available.
- Amenities: dump station, wash bay, air and water.
Be clear about access hours
RV and boat owners often leave early and return late. State gate hours precisely, and what happens outside them. Access problems should follow your verification rules and go to the on-call person.
Run a wait list for the spaces that sell out
Covered and enclosed spaces often fill up before the season. When the right space is not available, capture the vehicle, the measurements and the timing, and create a follow-up so the caller hears back when a space opens. In nexTalker, that request stays on the caller's record with the call it came from.
Plan for the season
Calls spike in the fall when boats and campers come off the road and in the spring when they go back out. Test your setup before each season with a few calls about full spaces, long vehicles and early access.
